I chose do research on upcoming cloud-based/software solutions for businesses to further understand different competitors advantageous business models and software solutions. One specific company I will be looking into is VMware along with their new Software Defined Data Centers (SDDC) which allows companies to automate IT, maximize data storage, and secure all information through it’s firewall and VMware site recovery. I am interested in becoming a sales exec for a cloud-based software company and would like to gain a better understanding of how these companies operate and maximize profit. Amazon Web Services just partnered with VMware to offer it to their clients a better solution. Here is a link to how VMware works with Amazon Web Services. This technology may be the future for cloud storage and a near end to data centers. VMware had a lot of bids such as microsoft and google but chose AWS and uses its virtual machines powered by pre-existing IP’s. Pretty interesting concept, take a look: https://aws.amazon.com/vmware/ VMware x AWS
1. Will this eliminate data servers in the future?
2. How will competing companies adopt this software?
3. What are costs like with this new technology?
4. How will security change in the future with this new technology?
